Emotional Support and Service Dogs

Resilient Therapies works in collaboration with highly certified canine professionals that understand your specific needs and occupational therapy goals to match the right dog with you and your family.

Service Dog

A Service Dog helps a person with a disability lead a more independent life. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service dog is "a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability."

Emotional Support Dog

An Emotional Support Dog provides comfort and companionship to help relieve a symptom or effect of a person's disability. They may be trained for a specific owner, but they are NOT trained for specific tasks or duties to aid a person with a disability.

Therapy Dog

Therapy dogs are not service dogs. A therapy dog is a dog that is trained to provide affection, comfort and support to people, often in settings such as hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, libraries, hospices, or disaster areas. Therapy dogs and their owners work together as a team to

improve the lives of other people.
